Each sentence is worth 10 points and may contain one, none, or more than one error.
Community colleges are quickly becoming the most economical way to attain higher education
(1). Probably the most appealing aspect is the cost of tuition, which tends to be most economical than
private and public four-year institutions (2). In addition, there are many associate degrees available that
are careful streamlined to assure quick training (3). Students who want or need to stay at home can
schedule day or evening classes as well as online or onsite classes (4). Because there are no college
dormitories, housing costs are nonexistent (5). Local communities benefit because the community
college primarily trains employees for work in the immediate area (6). When the economy is doing
good, the community college has good enrollment in the evening classes because the students are
currently working (7). If the economy is doing poor, workers often return to day classes to get retrained
in another field (8). Financial aid is no worst at the community college level (9). In fact, most students
are able to qualify for some type of grant, scholarship, or financial aid making the community college
experience a worthwhile investment in one’s future (10).

Interviewing today can be quite challenging (1). In previous years, one could send a resume and
almost expect to be allowed the courtesy of a personal interview (2). This is certainly not the case today
with travel costs and rigid competition for jobs with good salaries and benefits (3). Frequently, jobs are
not posted in local newspapers, so finding job opportunities has become quite challenging (4). Although
many still use the mail to send resumes, the fax machine has taken precedence in getting information to
the employer more easier and prompter (5). Another surprise is getting past the layers of personnel
involved in the hiring process (6). Formerly, there were certainly less people involved in the hiring
process (7). In this electronic age, there is more likelihood that initial interviews may be done by phone
or email for screening purposes (8). If granted an interview, a prospective employee will probably be
competing against less than five others for the position (9). Finally, the most biggest surprise may be
how slower a company nowadays makes a final decision about hiring, so patience is necessary in the job
market (10).
